Uneven health outcomes

Despite good accessibility of medical care in the Netherlands, we see substantial health differences. There is up to a 9 year difference in life expectancy between some of our neighbourhoods, and looking at the number of years that people live in good health this gap grows to 16 years.1 Experts attribute this difference not only to lifestyle, but also to stress. Health differences can lead to some groups being hit extra hard when a catastrophe occurs.
