Municipality renews Resilient Cities Network membership

The Hague will continue to build its resilience in the coming years. The Municipality of The Hague is renewing its membership to the Resilient Cities Network (R-cities), started in 2013 as the 100 Resilient Cities network. This global network of 100 cities supports cities all over the world to prepare for the physical, social and economic shocks and stresses of the 21st century and to share knowledge about these challenges.

Justice, peace and security are values that The Hague propagates. To become a strong and more resilient city, attention is needed for existing and new (social) issues. With the support of the network, The Hague has developed The Hague Resilience strategy. This strategy helps the city with specific opportunities to strengthen the city's resilience and describes concrete actions that are being implemented.

recent years, Resilient The Hague has successfully organized knowledge sessions, developed new methodologies and created collaborations with neighborhood parties in The Hague and international partners on topics such as: online safety (project Digital Safety in the Neighborhood), climate and heat (the development of Community of Practice on Urban Heat with other cities) and social themes such as radicalization (Resilient Fathers pilot). In the coming years, the municipality will continue to implement actions from this strategy and will help and train citizens and organizations in the city to increase their resilience. For a better, just and safe future.
